Who we help

Operating South
African SMEs.

IgnitesPlus works with businesses that are already operating — not ideas, not startups pre-revenue. You have customers, some records, and real pressure to become funder-legible.

This page will help you assess whether the fit is right — and be honest about when it is not.

Fit criteria

Four things that make the right mandate

We review every intake before accepting a mandate. These are the four criteria we assess — not a checklist you fill in, but a structure we use to confirm the work is right for both parties.

01

Registered and operating for 2+ years

Your business is formally registered — CIPC, tax-registered, and actively trading. You have a track record: customers, revenue, and transactions that can be traced.

CIPC registration, tax number, and 2+ years of trading are the baseline.

02

Recurring customers or procurement exposure

Your business earns through ongoing relationships, repeat customers, contracts, or procurement pipelines — not single transactions with no repeat model.

Funders and lenders assess sustainability. Recurring revenue is the signal.

03

A financial trail — even if incomplete

Some records exist: bank statements, invoices, payroll records, tax submissions. They may be incomplete, behind, or disorganised. That is why you are here.

We assess fit based on what exists — not what should exist.

04

Real compliance or funding pressure

You have a concrete reason to get funder-ready: a funding application, a tender pre-qualification, a SARS compliance issue, a lender request, or a procurement partner asking for financial statements.

Hypothetical future funding plans are not a mandate. Real pressure is.

When to engage

Situations we solve

Real pressure, not hypothetical planning. If any of these describe your business, the right route is clear.

A funder has asked for your financials

Your bank, a development finance institution, or an equity investor has requested management accounts, financial statements, or a financial model. Your records are not in the shape they need to be.

Ignite Control + Ignite Studio

You are applying for a government tender

Procurement pre-qualification requires clean compliance — SARS tax clearance, CIPC status, B-BBEE certificate, and audited or reviewed financials. One gap fails the submission.

Ignite Control + Ignite Diagnostic

SARS has flagged an outstanding issue

Outstanding compliance submissions with SARS that are quietly accumulating penalties. A compliance risk that needs resolving before it becomes a material problem.

Ignite Control

You are raising equity or approaching a DFI

You need a pitch deck, a 3-statement financial model with sensitivity analysis, and an investment teaser that survives institutional scrutiny. Not a good-looking document — a funder-grade one.

Ignite Studio

Your books are months behind

Reconciliation has not happened. Management accounts do not exist. A lender is asking questions you cannot currently answer. You need clean books before any external conversation can proceed.

Ignite Control

You were declined and want to know why

A funding application failed. A tender was rejected. You received no clear feedback. The Ignite Diagnostic gives you a written issue map and a prioritised action memo — what the assessor likely saw.

Ignite Diagnostic

Honest assessment

Is this the right fit?

We review every intake and decline mandates that are not the right fit. This saves both parties time. Read both columns honestly.

Right for you

Registered South African business, 2+ years operating
Recurring customers, contract income, or procurement pipeline
Some financial records — even if incomplete or behind
SARS, CIPC, or VAT compliance pressure that needs resolving
A funding application, lender request, or investor conversation in progress
A business that wants to formalise and become institutionally legible
Founders who understand readiness is a process, not a promise

Not the right fit

Pre-revenue or no trading history
No existing financial records — no bank statements, no invoices
Businesses expecting IgnitesPlus to guarantee funding approval
No willingness to formalise records or comply with SARS or CIPC
Single-transaction businesses with no recurring model or track record
Businesses seeking a fundraising broker or capital introduction only
Founders who want us to make decisions they need to make themselves

Still unsure?

Start with the Diagnostic

If you meet the four criteria but are unsure which service route fits, the Ignite Diagnostic is the right first step. A 90-minute structured assessment gives you a written issue map and a prioritised action memo.

The Diagnostic is also how we confirm fit in person. If IgnitesPlus is not the right mandate after the session, we will say so — and tell you why.
